Why Families Love the F1B Micro Bernedoodle

The F1B Micro Bernedoodle is a cross between a miniature F1 Bernedoodle and a miniature poodle. As our smallest variety, these adorable puppies have a few distinct advantages—especially for those living in apartments and with family members that have dog allergies.

  • F1B Micros usually stand 12-17 inches tall and weigh 10-25 pounds
  • F1B Micros are 75% poodle, often making them our most hypoallergenic variety
  • They’re great for all owners, so cute, and lots of fun!

Families Loving Their F1B Micro Bernedoodles!

These families are loving their new best friend. Let’s find the perfect match for your home.

Working with Walnut Valley has been the best experience. I have had my sweet Clark for just about a week now and he is a playful, smart and snuggly little guy. I am so happy to have worked with Jason and team in this process. From the time I was put on the waitlist to bringing my little guy home, Jason has followed up, answered all my questions and been a delight to work with! I would highly recommend for anyone looking into adopting!

We have had an all-around outstanding experience with Walnut Valley Puppies. So much so that after only a week after bringing our new puppy home we chose to go back on the waitlist for a second one. Every step of the process from navigating the website and getting on the waitlist to picking up our puppy and getting her home was smooth and professional. There were no surprises, loose strings, or hidden costs. Expectations regarding the waitlist time were realistic and response times are incredibly quick, respectful and friendly.WVP is clearly a reputable breeder with the health and wellness of their puppies and parents in mind. We only had one point of contact (Jason Yoder) throughout the entire adoption process which was nice because it took the chance for confusion or miscommunication out of the process. He checked-in (and still checks in) regularly and always responded within the same day (typically within minutes). Not only did Jason answer all of our questions but he also helped us decide on the puppy that was going to best suit our family’s needs and lifestyle. We especially appreciated all of the photos, videos and the personality ranking system they use. Extra effort was also taken to help us navigate through the “preparing for puppy” prep work (puppy proofing the house and yard, setting up vet appointments and training, ordering food and supplies, etc.) in order to ensure a smooth transition when we brought “Harriet” home. We received a generous swag bag full of goodies and necessities (the blanket with her mom and littermates’ scent has been incredibly valuable) to help with the transition as well.Once we got Harriet home, it was obvious that WVP put in a bunch of work getting her socialized and weaned prior to the 8-week mark when we picked her up. She has been easy to crate train (we are going into week 3 and she has not had one accident in her crate - she’s even sleeping through most of the night!). Our new puppy is sweet and playful with our young daughters as well as any other person who will give her attention. We’ve had complete strangers come up to us to say how adorable and well-tempered she is and ask where we got her. Our Harriet is an adorable tiny F1B bernedoodle with a well-balanced temperament of curiosity and calm and she’s so smart with the training. If you’re looking for a bernedoodle, Walnut Valley Puppies is the place!

It’s been one year and, bc of Walnut Valley Puppies, I have a happy, playful, fun loving pup that brings so much joy and brightness to our home. Tina was great to work with from the very beginning, making sure Yeti and I were a good match for each other and answering all my questions (and I had a lot, including how to research to make sure they were legit since I’m in another state and couldn’t just stop by). She made the process easy and I appreciated her organizing the flight when she did, that was a very busy time for me. She also gave me as many photos and videos I could ask for since I had to wait just a bit to be available to pick him up. Ruby was great at the airport giving me everything we needed and kindly taking pictures of our first moments together. Yeti did come to me with a parasite (and the more I learned, the more I understood that, though it was unfortunate, with a brand new puppy it can be par for the course) however, WVP held up their promise and paid for the follow up vet visits and panels that related to that issue and I appreciate them sticking to everything they promise. They’re a great breeder and I am so grateful to have Yeti bc of them!

We were extremely selective when choosing breeders for our bernedoodle. After researching multiple breeders, we decided that Walnut Valley was an excellent choice. We purchased our bernedoodle F1b a year ago. We could not be happier! Her temperament was exactly as described. She is a lovable dog and extremely affectionate. They are great for small children. She is a beautiful Tri Sable F1b. If we ever decide to get another, Walnut Valley will most definitely be our choice!

Questions About Bringing Home Your New Puppy?

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked about bringing home a new F1B micro bernedoodle puppy. For a full list of FAQs, visit our FAQ page. And of course, we’re always happy to chat—so give us a call!

What Should I Feed My F1B Micro Bernedoodle Puppy?

To ensure the health of your new pet, we recommend pawTree dog food to all of our adoptive pet owners. In our opinion, pawTree sells the best dog food and supplements on the market. It’s what we feed our growing puppies before they’re adopted, and a key ingredient to our 5-Year Genetic Health Guarantee. And since we believe in pawTree foods and products so much, we’ve extended our Genetic Health Guarantee to 5 full years if you feed pawTree dog foods during that time.

Here’s a bit more of what you can expect by feeding pawTree:

What is a Micro Bernedoodle?

An F1B Micro Bernedoodle is a second-generation cross between an F1 Mini Bernedoodle and a Toy Poodle.

This means you get a puppy that's 25% Bernese for a sweet, gentle nature and 75% Poodle for intelligence and that desirable low-shedding coat. Being 75% Poodle, the F1B Micro Bernedoodle are the most hypoallergenic bernedoodle of our varieties.

F1B Micro Bernedoodles typically mature to an adorable size of 10-25 lbs. and have a long lifespan of 15-18 years, making them perfect for families seeking a smaller breed.

What is the Lifespan of a Micro Bernedoodle?

F1B Micro Bernedoodles lifespan is typically between 14 and 18 years.

Due to the inbreeding that took place to bring the Bernese Mountain Dog back into population from the brink of extinction, Bernese Mountain Dogs are vulnerable to several genetic disorders and often have short lifespans. Due to the long lifespan of the miniature poodle genetics, F1B Micro and F1B Mini Bernedoodles have a lifespan of 14-18 years.

Of course, other factors such as genetics, diet, and overall care influence the life expectancy of a Bernedoodle.

At Walnut Valley Puppies, all of our parent dogs are health-tested prior to breeding, enabling us to guarantee the genetic health of our puppies with our 5-Year Genetic Health Guarantee!

To learn more about how we test our dogs and about our 5-Year Genetic Health Guarantee, check our Health Guarantee page!

What is the Size of an F1B Micro Bernedoodle?

An F1B Tiny Bernedoodle is the result of breeding an F1 Mini Bernedoodle to a Miniature Poodle. F1B Tiny Bernedoodles usually stand between 12 and 17 inches tall and weigh between 15 and 25 pounds. Again, these puppies tend to be more hypoallergenic and usually less shedding than the F1 Bernedoodles.

What is the Difference Between an F1, F2, and F1B?

  • F1 refers to the cross between two purebred dogs- A Bernese Mountain Dog crossed to a Poodle. This generation cross gives a 50/50 mix. Genetically they will have a combination of attributes between the two parents. Coats in F1s can vary in terms of the percentage of hair shedding. Some will be nearly completely non-shedding and others will have a percentage of hair that still sheds. There can be variation within this generation in terms of coat but most will be a loose wavy coat through to a curly wave. The reason someone would choose this generation is that they have a more even combination of the genetics and personality of the parent breeds. In Bernedoodles the F1s typically have the most Bernese colors, blockiness and personality.
  • F1B’s are a Bernedoodle crossed to a Poodle- with 75% poodle, their coats are usually fairly consistently, low to non-shedding. Typically, half of the litter will be have a curly coat and half will have a looser wavy coat. They are more suited to a family that may have mild allergies or that feel strongly about shedding in their dog. Their build will usually be a little less blocky and their colors can vary more than the F1’s.
  • F2 or Multi-Generational refer to two Bernedoodle parents that are bred together to achieve a multi-generational cross. The attributes can vary, but the idea behind multi-gen breeding is to reach a consistent pairing between desirable attributes from both parents. All purebred dogs today come from many generations of breeding multi-gen crosses to achieve a consistent breed standard. There can be variation in the mix of genes that each multi-gen puppy gets, but with many generations, a predictable set of traits and looks will emerge.

Are F1B Micro Bernedoodles Hypoallergenic?

Yes, F1B Micro Bernedoodles are considered a hypoallergenic breed. However, there is no such thing as a fully hypoallergenic dog, as people can also be allergic to dog saliva or urine, etc. For those with mild to medium pet allergies, F1B Micro Bernedoodles make a wonderful addition to the family, as they are usually low shed to no shed.

For a person with severe allergies, we want to ensure that the puppy you take home has as curly a coat as possible. F1B Bernedoodles usually have the most curly coats, they usually are compatible for those with more severe allergy problems. If you have concerns, we suggest that you get further allergy testing done as well as take some time to interact with doodles and their humans in your area before purchasing a puppy.
